My current list is here.
Updates are here.
101 Things in 1001 Days
The Mission:
Complete 101 preset tasks in a period of 1001 days.
The Criteria:
Tasks must be specific (ie. no ambiguity in the wording) with a result that is either measurable or clearly defined. Tasks must also be realistic and stretching (ie. represent some amount of work on my part).
Why 1001 Days?
Many people have created lists in the past – frequently simple goals such as new year’s resolutions. The key to beating procrastination is to set a deadline that is realistic. 1001 Days (about 2.75 years) is a better period of time than a year, because it allows you several seasons to complete the tasks, which is better for organising and timing some tasks such as overseas trips or outdoor activities.
The Inspiration:
My friend, Liz, began the project and I was intrigued. She explained it all to me and referred me to Michael Green’s site for more information. In fact, this page is ganked straight from his site.

[...] Wooohboy that’s a lotta scarves. Last week, as I was distibuting the team scarves, I got orders for more. So, I’d better get on that, I guess.I had planned to get started this week, but with Jordan sick, I haven’t been able to make the trip into Hamilton to get the fabric. But soon, soon. I’ve done about half of the first sleeve of my Jesse sweater. The swelling in my elbow from working the acrylic yarn in such a tight gauge has moved up my arm and now I’m pretty sure my neck is broken. I’m afraid to put it down though, because it is a Christmas gift and I want to be sure it is done in time. hmm… maybe some wine would help. Oh, I know! Groundcherry liqueur. mmmm. I’ll have to test that out asap. I’m also working on a scarf. I’ve done one version plain, but this time around, I’m using a beaded carry along yarn with the main cotton yarn. I’m interested to see how that works out. Mostly, I’m working on the sweater though. Fall back tonight… theoretically that means a much needed extra hour of sleep. That never happens though. At some point, early in the morning, the dog will be choking on her ear (don’t laugh, it has happened before), or Jordan will be standing beside my bed yapping his head off, or the phone will ring… and I’ll end up actually losing another hour of sleep. And all the math I’ll be doing trying to figure out what time it really is and what time my body thinks it is will bring me fully awake and then I’m just plain doomed. So I might as well put the coffee on and get with it. There must be some way to work it out so that three or four times a year we put the clocks back, like, maybe a WEEK. That’d be perfect. This afternoon I began moving all my 101 in 1001 stuff over to this blog. All the main stuff is here now. Info is here. This is a great project. I’m not quite half way through, but I’m pretty sure I’ll do another one when this one is finished. [...]
i think your son is the cutest!!!!! omg i love him!!! and don’t cut his hair! :) :)
[...] We had a great New Year. New Year’s Eve was low-key. We stayed home and just hung out. Jordan and I played Guild Wars to ring in 2008 :D The next day we had some family and friends over. The boys played video games (of course lol) and there was food (mmmm) and champagne (MMMMMMMM!) and some great company. It was a really good time. 2007 was a good year. A very good year. But I’m looking forward to 2008 and expect it will be even better. I’ve never been one for lists of Official New Year Resolutions, but I made January 1, 2008 the start date for the next round of my 101 Things in 1001 Days Project. This is the second time I’ve done this and so far, I’m enjoying it even more than the first time. I’ve been writing down ideas for this list for months now and as it came together these last weeks, some trends became clear, most notably the focus on developing better habits. As with my first list, there is also a focus on goals towards better health. At this point, my list (which is here) will still undergo some fine tuning, but I’m happy with the overall tone :) I know of a bunch of people who are doing 101/1001. Leave me an comment if you’d like me to link to yours. [...]
[...] Try the 101 Things in 1001 Days Challenge. A popular blog meme, this was written up at My Bountiful Life and spread by Denise at Flamingo House Happenings. The idea here is to plug away at a list of 101 things for almost three years. Hey, that saves you from worrying about resolutions for awhile, no? A favorite for those who like lists and those who like “Getting Things Done” it might be fun just to make the list and see what happens. Fascinating ongoing stories of others’ progress can be found by searching blogs for “101 things in 1001 days.” [...]

Many thnks for writing such a fascinating article. All too frequently you see the exact same issue above and over so this makes a refreshing change.
I’m going to coat-tail on what “Very Evolved” said… The way you connect to your audience is… Know who you are writing to. You need to pick a Target Audience and stick to them. You wouldn’t write to an audience of 14yr olds the same way you would write to an audience of 60yr olds.
Thanks for taking this opportunity to discuss this, I feel strongly about it and I take pleasure in learning about this topic. If possible, as you gain information, please add to this blog with new information. I have found it extremely useful.
