Jordan
I can’t believe he’ll be 10 soon.
Ten. That’s half-way grown up.
I love everything about this kid, seriously.
I love who he is and how he thinks.
I love that he’s half-wild, yet more civilized than almost anyone I know.
I love that he wears his hair long only because it feels best that way.
I love that he is honest (almost) to a fault. He won’t lie even to keep himself out of trouble.
I love… that he calls me Love-Love.
I don’t love that he’ll be 10.
Because that’s half-way grown-up.
And half-way to leaving me.
Awwww, he’ll never really leave you. I thought of you today: I bought some jam made of interesting things like elderberries and rose petals, etc.
That’s the trouble with motherhood. Do it right and you do yourself out of a job. Good looking boy there. And great poem.
Oh you have warmed the cockles of my heart. Only this morning my son Robert 14 was hanging over his Weet-bix and his father said to him, “you could use a haircut” And we both where brought back to when he was 2 years old and I couldn’t bear to cut his hair. I love him so much it aches, He is still a boy, but he had man hands and feet and I’m in no hurry for the rest of him to catch up.
He is beautiful! Yes.. they grow up far too fast.
Knowing him through you…I heartily agree. He is a treasure rare. I know I often look at my two and get almost weepy, realizing how quickly these next few years will pass by. WOnderful thing that we KNOW this, and can make the most of each passing year!
I raised two boys and now they are both married, and one of them is a daddy himself. All too soon they do grow up but you know what? You will ALWAYS be Mama and your bond will never be broken. Changed a little maybe, but not broken.
Your Jordan is a good-looking young man who from what I can tell from reading your blog is well on his way to being his own man–and that’s a very good thing!
